2.9%

Ink on paper, 76x57 cm, 2024

The small rectangle drawn in the middle of the paper represents approximately 2.9% of the total area, mirroring the percentage of the Earth's surface that humans inhabit. This work is an invitation to reimagine our relationship with space, both physical and social. It is not about the land we inhabit but the inner capacity to host, connect, and expand our concept of togetherness.
In a world often driven by competition and fear of lack, humanity's true strength lies in its ability to come together and show compassion. When we crowd together physically and emotionally, it is easy to feel the weight of our differences and challenges. But this closeness is also an opportunity to practice mercy and empathy. Instead of pushing each other away, fearing there isn't enough for everyone, we must embrace the idea that when we come together with open hearts, we create space for understanding and kindness.
The 2.9% is not a limitation of land; it is a limitation of vision. The space surrounding the cluster of bodies is not a void; it is a call for us to shape a new social landscape that embraces the fullness of the Earth and, more importantly, the fullness of human potential.
